Hello, everybody. Today I’m gonna talk about the web browsers. Some of you may wonder, why I`ve chosen this topic. All people have their browser which they are using every day. It`s out of the question that you reading this article using Chrome, am I right? 🙂 Safari by Apple 🍏 is the next most popular browser on the global scale, because it is the default browser in MacOS.
And, of course, we have some exceptions who are using Internet Explorer, which main feature is to download Chrome 😃
Guys who have developed Firefox, keep on making extensions for it.
For example, Containers: this plugin makes different storage for diff block on your tabs. Many people have several accounts in one service. For instance, you have several Google accounts and you need to switch between them very often. Maybe guys who have developed Firefox, have many accounts too 🙂 Firefox provides a plugin to solve this case. This plugin creates a separate box for each of your online lives, for example, “work” container for Jira, Bitbucket, and Confluence; “Personal” container for GitHub, Medium, and Amazon. You can choose some websites which you use in one container all the time. This option is called “Always open in ”. You can also select the color for each of your containers and this plugin will mark each tab opened in them. What is more, any link from the web site can be opened in any container tab.
Use following link to install.
I use this feature every day because I have several Google accounts and I use them for authorization in other sites. Check out my list of containers:
1. My (For personal stuff)
2. Work (WebSite for work: Jira, Bitbucket, work email)
3. Main (Another personal stuff: GitHub, Medium)
If you use shortcut like me, probably you have a question : “How should I open the dialog with container list without a mouse 🐭 ?“ Just use
control + . ⌨️
In my opinion, this is the most useful feature in Firefox and I have no idea why other browsers don’t have the same one. So, I have the following case: I come to work, I have some content which I need to see all the time. As for me, it is the list of the tickets in Jira, but suddenly, I need to look at other web pages at the same time, for instance, documentation of backend, pull request from my team members or something else. You may check it out in the following screenshots:
- An article which I wrote at the moment and list of my repositories in my GitHub profile;
- You can see the dialog from the side view and any site can be opened from the list in the side view.
A lot of extensions
New Firefox has all extensions and plugins which are available for the Chrome and Safari. Because new Firefox is based on the same platform as Chrome and Safari and all of the browser extension developers can create their plugins for Firefox easily.
I hope after reading this article you have not second thoughts about using Firefox.
